Small Businesses Facing Growth Challenges

Fewer entrepreneurs are starting new businesses in 2011 than in the past decade, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

It’s bad news for the economy, since fewer start ups mean less jobs.

Experts site weak consumer spending as the problem. Businesses are hesitant to hire or launch new projects when consumers aren’t buying. But compares are hoping sales will pick up in the second half of 2011.
